The Easter or spring celebration has become yet another orgy of chocolate and excess. For my kids it was better than pretty much anything, probably because it was all chocolate, all the time. Nothing like a $0.99 solid chocolate bunny to get through the grey vestiges of winter in Canada.

I’m in Canada for the first time in four years, and was reminded of the gray and slush that is southern Ontario. My daughter, who told me yesterday, “you’re 50, what’s going on, you’re old,” said she had aspirations for sun.

I said Kansas has a lot of sun, and Brisbane has the bluest sky Amy has ever seen, except for those couple of weeks in the fall and spring when it rains constantly, like now.

Daughter said she wanted to go to California.

Maybe I’ll buy her a chocolate bunny or egg instead.

But not one of them Zachary Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Eggs because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Zachary Confections has initiated this voluntary recall in response to a test result indicating the potential for Salmonella contamination in a sample taken during routine post-production testing from one of the production lots of product that is the subject of this recall. Out of an abundance of caution, Zachary Confections is recalling all lots of product that may have been affected.

They’re not saying what ingredient may have hosted the Salmonella.
