Missoula Health workers are investigating four potential cases of foodborne illnesses that could be linked to vendors serving tainted food at the Western Montana Fair.

So far food inspectors say two of the cases are most likely related to the fair food, because the people experiencing similar symptoms ate the same food.

Last Wednesday Route 66, Delightful Goodies and the Candy Stand were prepared to serve customers large quantities of foods, including chicken, beef, hot dogs and cheese that had started to spoil.

Health department officials forced the vendors to throw away the food after discovering it hadn’t been refrigerated since it was in Sidney, three days before it hit Missoula.
