Legal action over listeria cheese deaths in Germany

Agra-Net reports the German supermarket chain Lidl, along with regional government officials, is being sued for negligence after the deaths of at least seven people from eating listeria-contaminated cheese.

A German consumer rights organisation, Foodwatch, has filed a complaint against Lidl, the consumer protection ministry of Baden-Wuerttemberg, and Prolactal, the Austrian maker of the cheese. It accuses them of negligent homicide and bodily harm with fatal consequences.
